Winter break

It's good to recharge your batteries and when it snows as much as it has in our neck of the woods a break is in  order mid winter!
beautiful lichen spotted on our walk today!

So off to visit family in warmer climes. We walk a lot and bike a lot in NRW Germany where Rainer's home is.  It's pastoral and green this time of year and we soak up the green!

How I Sketch

Celeste - available in my Etsy Shop

I am a huge fan of India Ink. With a capitol "I". It flows and blobs and makes marks that are hard to control yet easy to be playful with.  For the past ten years or so I have been practicing my drawing through this method of brush and ink on vintage papers. I get lost in the process and just love it.
Some of the drawings end up on Etsy for sale.

Have a look here if you are interested! Happy Tuesday friends!

Cookies! (gluten free of course)

SO EASY and so yummy

So all this snow and stay indoors nonsense has created a bit of a buzz in our kitchen. It's nice to heat up the oven and make cookies or brisket or the occasional bread loaf. But these cookies are the easiest of the bunch and also amazingly perfect for everyone - even me! Gluten free, dairy free and just divine.  I shot these photos with my newly printed table runner. I love the linen and the pattern that the carved stamp I made for Christmas/New Year's cards this past season created. More on that later!

 Recipe time!

Heat oven to 350F

1 Cup of Almond or Cashew Butter
1 Cup of Bittersweet Chocolate Chips
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 Cup of brown sugar
1 egg or make it vegan with egg substitute

Mix the ingredients in a bowl until well blended.
Drop a rounded tablespoon of dough onto cookie sheets covered with parchment paper.
Cook for 8 or 9 minutes.
Take out of oven and let cool a bit before moving to cooling rack.
Makes a dozen.
(thank god there are only 12)
(yes they are THAT good)
